Kalman D. Blumberg, M.D.
Dr. Kal Blumberg is a south Florida native, He received his B.S. at Tulane and his M.D. at the University of Miami. He received his spine surgery fellowship from Thomas Jefferson University Hospital & Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.
He is married, with three children and loves to fish and to spend time on the water, particularly enjoying the environment of the Florida Keys flats and backcountry. He’s a tournament level fisherman, having won the prestigious Redbone Tournament which supports research to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis.
Harold Lawrence Dalton, D.O.
Dr. Larry Dalton was born in Norfolk, VA, and raised in Melbourne, FL. He received both his B.S. and M.S. in Exercise and Sport Sciences from the University of Florida. He fulfilled his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago/Northwestern University, and was an Interventional Spine Physiatry Fellow at Georgia Pain Physicians/Emory University, receiving his fellowship in interventional pain management.
Dr. Dalton is married with two children. His wide range of interests include fishing, exercise, cooking, travel, scuba, college football, and martial arts.
Stuart H. Hershman, M.D.
Dr. Stuart H. Hershman grew up on Long Island, New York. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania, and stayed in Philadelphia to obtain his M.D. degree. He completed his orthopaedic residency at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases, and a fellowship in spine surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. While there, he trained in all facets of spinal surgery including adult and pediatric spinal deformity, trauma, tumor, degenerative conditions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine, and minimally invasive spine surgery.
An avid golfer with a 6 handicap, he also enjoys recreational bodybuilding, landscape photography, squash, and most recreational sports.
Brian Burrough, M.D.
Dr. Brian Burrough is a board-certified anesthesiologist with subspecialty certification in Pain Medicine. Prior to pursuing a career in medicine, he earned a masters degree in Physical Therapy and practiced in South Florida for 3 years. He then earned a medical degree from the University of Miami and went on to complete residency in Anesthesia at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami. After completing residency, he accepted a position as clinical fellow in Anesthesia at Harvard Medical School. During fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dr. Burrough completed training in Interventional Pain Medicine. Upon completion of training, he returned to South Florida, where he has been in private practice treating patients with painful conditions. Dr. Burrough practices interventional pain medicine alongside his partners at Florida Spine Specialists. He is well versed in the field of neuromodulation and helps many patients with spinal cord stimulation therapy. He also has a special interest in the emerging field of regenerative medicine.
Richard M. Foltz, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Richard M. Foltz is a board certified Neurosurgeon. His higher education began with a Bachelor degree in Biology at the University of Missouri in 1978. He then went on to graduate studies in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Houston. These broad experiences led to his recruitment in the Department of Neurosurgery, Baylor college of Medicine, where he directed the basic science and research laboratories with over 5 million dollars of direct National Institute of Health (NIH) grant support. The results from these efforts led to several published peer reviewed articles in national and international medical journals.
Robert P. Norton, M.D.
Dr. Robert P. Norton received his Bachelor Degree in Biological Science and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Rutgers University. While in college, he worked as a personal trainer, a physiology teaching assistant and was a volunteer at the regional academic hospital. He then moved to Philadelphia to obtain medical training from the prestigious Jefferson Medical College, graduating Magna Cum Laude and with the highest honor of being inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. While at Miami, he was appointed Administrative Chief Resident and had the fortune of training with nationally recognized orthopaedic and neurosurgical academic spine surgeons. Following residency, Dr. Norton completed advanced training in spine surgery at the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases, one of the most sought after and prestigious spine fellowship in the country. While at NYU, he obtained specialized instruction in the surgical and non-operative management of complex spinal conditions by several pioneers in the field.
Greg is a former trainer for the PGA Tour (5 years) and for the Atlanta Braves (8 years). He’s treated many golf luminaries including Jack Nicklaus, Payne Stewart, Arnold Palmer, Tom Watson, Sam Snead, Fred Couples and Lee Trevino. He followed his extraordinary success training professional athletes by specializing in spine related injuries and surgical monitoring technologies. He has come to Florida Spine Specialists to work with the doctors to create a one-of-a-kind holistic spinal health program for golf and sports enthusiasts. He encourages everyone to remember that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Cami Dunham, PA-C
Cami has been a physician assistant working in the field of spine and pain management for the last eleven years. She is a 1999 graduate of the Nova Southeastern University Physician Assistant program, and a 1997 graduate of Kansas State University.
Petrine Fardette, PA-C
Petrine has been an Orthopaedic Physician Assistant since 1997. She graduated from Nova Southeastern University and has worked in Palm Beach and Broward Counties throughout her career. She assists Dr. Blumberg, Dr. Dalton and Dr. Cairns in caring for their patients and assisting them in surgery.
Amanda Oloughlin, PA
Amanda has been a physician assistant since 2006. She graduated from the Nova Southeastern University Physician Assistant program in 2006 and graduated from the University of Florida in 2003. She lives in Fort Lauderdale with her husband and two daughters and enjoys running and yoga.
Training and Rehabilitation
Michelle Gonzalez, MSPT
Michelle is originally from Battle Creek, Michigan. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in exercise science at Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan. In 1999, she moved to Florida to attend the University of Miami where she received her Master of Science degree in physical therapy. She has 8 years of experience in orthopedic spinal physical therapy. Michelle also teaches Pilates classes at the Florida Spine Specialists facility twice a week. She lives in Fort Lauderdale with her husband, Jorge, and together they enjoy exercise, boating, and other outdoor activities.
Nicole Adler, LPTA
Nicole is a native of south florida, and attended Pine Crest School. She earned her bachelor of science from Florida State University in communication. After ten years in her field, she switched careers and entered the field of physical therapy. She trained at Broward College, and was board certified in 2005. Nicole has specialized in physical therapy for the spine for the past 6 years.
Linda Simard, RN
Linda is a caring and compassionate RN whose top priority is patient care and safety. Her goal is to make patients comfortable while at the same time providing them with excellence in patient care. In addition to working directly with the patients, she assists both Dr. Dalton and Dr. Cairns in the epidural suite during procedures.
Sabrina Filteau, LPN
Sabrina is a Licensed Practical Nurse working exclusively with Dr. Blumberg’s surgical patients. She ensures that they receive the best of preop and postop care. Her compassionate approach helps patients relax and be as comfortable as possible. Sabrina received her training and graduated from Atlantic Technical Center.
Jamie Stubock, MA
Jamie is a certified medical assistant whose dedication to the care of Dr. Cairns’ patients is a tremendous benefit to them during all clinical operations.
Gidget Freeman, MA
Gidget is a Medical Assistant, and is also the assistant director of our on-site laboratory. She says “Outstanding patient care is my number one goal.”
Shakera Hamiltone, Xray Technician
Shakera Hamiltone has been a Radiologic Technologist for 3yrs. She graduated from West Boca School of Radiologic Technology and has 7yrs of medical experience. Great patient care is what she strives for. Shakera is the newest team member to Florida Spine Specialists.
The physicians at Florida Spine Specialists are asked to participate in clinical research studies. Clinical Research studies (also called clinical trials) are used to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of medications and medical devices by monitoring the effects on people over a pre-determined amount of time. Voluntary participation in a clinical research study offers patients an avenue to obtain new treatments that would otherwise not be available and also help others by contributing to medical research. Active participation in clinical trials helps keep Florida Spine Specialists on the leading edge of treatments for spine care.
Melanie Taylor, CCRC
Melanie is a certified clinical research coordinator with 13 years experience in the field of medical research. She is dedicated to working with the physicians and staff at Florida Spine Specialists to provide patients the highest quality care with the latest innovative technology in spine care.
Alix Jane Harou
Alix Jane Harou has been practicing yoga for over 10 years and has been teaching gentle hatha yoga and yoga therapy since 2009. She received her training and certification from Mary Hohmann, creator of Hatha Yoga & Beyond. Alix has taught yoga to a large pool of individuals and groups, ranging from business people, children, the elderly, women with mental illness, physically and mentally disabled, athletes, etc. Having a BA in psychology, a social work degree, and a Master’s of Public Health (MPH), Alix combines her skills and experiences to create a yoga therapy program customized for her clients.
Lisa has been the Practice Administrator for the Florida Spine Specialists for over 10 years. She is in charge of all facets of administration. She and her staff are dedicated to providing you with a seamless and pleasant health care experience.
Her philosophy for managing a successful physicians office and keeping a happy staff results in happy patients. She leads by example, hires smart people and empowers them to be successful.
Heather works in the billing and collections department at Florida Spine Specialists. She understands that sometimes the billing and collections department may be intimidating so she takes special care to help each patient understand and feel comfortable with financial aspects of their treatment. Heather says “I enjoy coming to work everyday because each day offers another opportunity to help someone.”
Yudi is a medical assistant, but she is also the receptionists whose greets our patients with her exquisite smile and quickly handles paperwork to ensure that people get the great care of the Florida Spine specialists as quickly as possible. Her motto is “Patients come first.”
Catherine moved to Florida a little over 10 years ago from New Mexico and immediately began working as Dr. Blumberg’s medical assistant/surgical coordinator. Six years later she went back to school and began working part time. You might find her working in a number of different areas in the facility. She loves working with the Florida Spine team and being able to help our patients.
Nancy is a billing and collections representative. She handles correspondence and field calls regarding billing questions. She is also responsible for the follow-up of outstanding receivables claims and will work through patient issues.
Susan started in our medical records dept and is now one of our new telephone operators. She is a compassionate and caring individual who is dedicated in helping our patients.
Zorica works in the medical records department . She responds to patient, insurance companies and attorny’s requests for records in an efficient and timely manner. Known for her positive attitude, she is dedicated to helping patients in any way she can.
Denise, a mother of two, was born and raised in Florida. She loves making people smile and is a real “people person”. Denise’s specialization is medical billing and coding, and her career plans are to become an occupational therapist assistant.
Lynne is a “techie transcriptionist”, transferring the physician’s patient comments into the paperless system. She takes pride in providing the patients with the most up-to-date informative care and in assisting Florida Spine Specialists’ fellowship-trained physicians.
